Deontay Wilder's trainer reveals surprising opinion of Jake Paul

Jake Paul has received a favourable appraisal from the man responsible for bringing Deontay Wilder back into the heavyweight picture.

Malik Scott, a previous contender, is tasked with training Wilder against Robert Helenius next month as the heavy-handed Alabamian aims to bounce back from two consecutive losses to Tyson Fury and recover the heavyweight crown.

Despite being focused on rebuilding Wilder’s reputation, Scott has also noticed the effect that Paul has made on boxing.

After repeated cancellations against Tommy Fury, Paul returns to the ring in October to face former UFC superstar, Anderson Silva.

“I believe Jake Paul has also become a great fighter,” commented Scott when speaking to Fair Betting Sites.

“Is he a world beater? Absolutely not. But is he an influencer fighter? Not to me no more. I'm not going to keep saying it since he's genuinely looking better than other boxers.

“I think Jake Paul is great for modern day boxing, I think he wouldn't even be permitted in boxing if boxing was like it was in the old days.
