Famous Iowa Coach Has Died At 93

On Saturday morning, the Iowa football community received some heartbreaking news when a famous coach passed away.

Bill Brashier, a veteran defensive coordinator under Hayden Fry, passed away last week, according to a statement from Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz. He was 93 years old.

"Bill Brashier was a fantastic defensive coach," Ferentz stated in a statement.

"Leadership was a crucial part of every success and title our team earned in the 1980's and 1990's, and I was privileged to coach with him as a young coach.

He got the absolute best out of all of his guys every single day. They loved and appreciated him as a leader and as a person."

Brashier served as the team's defensive coordinator for nearly 20 years, helping the team pile up over 120 wins.
